I am a fourth generation Texan born in Houston. I grew up in San Antonio and North Texas, graduating high school from Flower Mound Marcus. After high school, I spent a year in New Orleans,
working as an Inspector on oil tankers and in refineries. I left there and moved back to Texas, where I attended college at Stephen F. Austin and worked as a ranch hand on a thoroughbred farm. I eventually came back to North Texas and settled on a career in corporate finance and management. Given the recent political climate, my wife Rebecca encouraged me to go into politics full time where I have been working since last summer, consulting for candidates and campaigns.
I have always held conservative convictions. In 2004 I ran for US congress. I based my decision on the actions of the incumbent, a lifelong Democrat who in his announcement to run said that he was going to switch parties because the newly redistricted area leaned in favor of a Republican. He also said that he was not changing any of his views; it was just easier to switch than fight. Looking at his voting record in congress, he went from being a conservative Democrat to the most liberal Republican in Congress from Texas. This also led to a strong backlash against me from the National Republican Congressional Committee for not dropping out of the race as the other five candidates did. I felt that conservative values and political courage were more important than following the party to the center. I saw that the party was headed down the wrong path and four years later we all witnessed the results of them abandoning conservative values.
For the last six years, I have worked to strengthen the conservative base in western Denton County. One third of the land and residents of Frisco are in Denton County. In 2004 there were only three precincts in this area and no real organization of the voters. We founded the “Frisco Republicans of Denton County” club and began to organize the voters. Since then Frisco has consistently had two of the top five precincts in both turnout and conservative votes. I have been appointed as an Election Judge, Delegate to the 2004 State Republican Convention, sat on Denton County Grand Jury, Precinct Chair, officer in the Denton County Republican Party Executive Committee and Area Leader for the Victory 2010 campaign.
Rebecca and I have been married for 11 years and we have lived in Frisco since 1999. I have sat on the Dallas Scottish Rite Committee for Americanism and Patriotism where I have had the honor of speaking at local high schools about the Scottish Rite and presenting medals to R.O.T.C cadets for the National Sojourners. In 2005 I was accepted into the order of the Knights Templar and subsequently knighted. I now serve as Junior Warden in the Denton Commandery of Knights Templar. I also hold membership with the NRA, Frisco Republican Men's Club and we attend Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco.
